School executives will ensure that the school has processes and systems in place for budgeting, staffing, problem solving communicating expectations, and scheduling the result in organizing the work routines in the building. The school executive must be responsible for the monitoring of the school budget and the inclusion of all teachers in the budget decision so as to meet the 21st century needs of every classroom. Effectively and efficiently managing the the complexity of every day life is critical for staff to be able to focus its energy on improvement.

Focus Funds Template
As part of the leadership team, I had the unique opportunity to engage in the creation of the budget for the use of Focus Funds at Southwest Elementary School. The team decided to use the Focus Funds to increase the number of students performing at proficiency level. We created an after school tutoring program to achieve this goal. We used our schools data, the goals set by our school improvement team, and the academic needs of our students, to place funds where it would be highly effective to ensure the growth of our students. See the template below that we created to show how the Focus Funds were allocated.

I created this budget with the vision of using money to hire people to directly teach students. It also creates an after school tutoring program that buses students home after school hours so more students could take part in the program. It also brings in instructional support to all grade levels to help teachers in their practice in order grow all students. Below is the presentation from our school budget class.

Discipline Log and Discipline Tracking Form
Southwest Elementary School has a positive behavior specialist who is charged with handling most of the behavior issues in the school, however, there were instances where I became involved with behavior in the school. During my residency I devised a personal discipline log to track my interactions with students and the consequences for individual students. I also created a school wide behavior form to track the frequency and reasons for referrals to the behavior specialist. I was filling a need as there was a lack of a discipline tracking system. As a leadership team we were able to dissect this data to see where issues are happening, what time of day, on which grade level, with which teachers, and where the infractions were happening. We can then look at our systems and procedures to see where we need to change and help support our teachers and students so more time can be spent on instruction. Title One Forms
In the past, Title One paper forms were sent to parents to compete and return to the school. When the forms were returned someone had to compile the information from the forms. In order to save time, streamline the information, and increase parent responses, I created a google form that was sent home to parents via e-mail. Below is a sample email sent home to all parents and a picture of the google form that the parents filled out.

The administrative team made a commitment to ensure that effective communication was disseminated to all stakeholders. This message was sent home every week to parents in various forms. I shared the responsibility with the principle of sending home weekly messages and putting messages on the website. This allowed me to connect with the families, keep them up to date on what is going on in our schools, and create positive communication with the school community. We also sent the message to the PTA to put on their Facebook page and to the technology facilitator to put on our website. These e-mails included information for the up coming week and also reminded teachers of expectations that had been put into place at the beginning of the school year. When a rule or expectation was not met a follow-up e-mail was sent to the staff members reminding them of the expectation. Staff is expected to respond to email within a week and have the understanding that we will monitor the changes. This handbook was then printed and given to each student and family and referred to all year long by the school. This document was then shared with the entire staff to allow for fluid change throughout the year. Below is the handbook document that we created.
