Faculty PLC Agenda's
Southwest Elementary School has a very diverse faculty that posses many talents and abilities. As a member of the administrative staff, we encourage teachers to share their individual expertise and talents as a way to enlarge the teaching tool box of all teachers. These teacher demonstrations have a positive effect on the academic and social emotional growth of our students. The artifact below is an example of a faculty PLC agenda that shows teachers sharing their expertise with the rest of the staff members.

"Read Across Southwest Week"
The School Leadership Team invited school board members and local television personalities to Southwest Elementary School for "Read Across Southwest Week". This is a yearly program that the school has established to forge a school wide identity and culture of academic success. The leadership team met all the visitors, gave them a tour of the school, and brought them to a classroom where they read to the students. The students appreciated the school board and television personalities taking time out of their busy schedule to read to them. This event also made the local news and helps to establish Southwest Elementary Schools mission and vision throughout Durham which in turn supports our culture, our brand ,and our message.

True Colors Staff Presentation
Giving the True Colors Professional Development to the staff changed the way our staff worked in PLC's. The teachers understand more about themselves and their grade level PLC partners. A few teachers even took this to their students to have the students understand their own personality color and how they learn. The artifact below is the presentation from the True Colors presentation that I gave to the staff as a professional development. This presentation strengthened the culture of collaboration at Southwest Elementary.
