Standard 1: Strategic Leadership
School executives will create conditions that result in strategically re-imaging the school’s vision, mission, and goals in the 21st century. Understanding that schools ideally prepare students for an unseen but not altogether unpredictable future, the leader creates a climate of inquiry that challenges the school community to continually re-purpose itself by building on its core values and beliefs about its preferred future and then developing a pathway to reach it.

School Improvement Team Minutes
As a member of the School Improvement Team, I led meetings where the team discussed the direction of the school. During one of our meetings we created values for the school, reviewed, and then approved the mission and vision for Southwest Elementary School. The values were brought back to PLC's and discussions are continuing about how we can bring these to the student population. The approved vision of Southwest is "We believe children should have the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential becoming productive members of a culturally diverse society". The approved mission for Southwest Elementary school is "To ensure equity and achievement for all students" The artifact below is the meeting minutes from the School Improvement Team meeting where we created the values of the school and approved the mission and vision along with the mission and vision documents from the School Improvement Plan.

Digital Data Walls
I created a digital data wall for each grade level. This wall is used by teachers to see change and growth in all of their students and also creates a platform for data discussions across the grade level during professional learning community or PLC meetings. It will also be used for transitions for students from year to year for all teachers to see. Creating the digital data wall is will also serve as a tool to help our school reach the goals put forth as part of the school improvement plan. 4th grade teachers have already used this data to create leveled groups for intervention instruction and have seen growth in engagement of students. Below is an example of the data wall that we used in our PLC to facilitate conversations about individual student's academic improvement.

School Improvement Plan Minutes
The school improvement team met to discuss the creation of digital data walls. This conversation was facilitated by me along with the assistant principal. The assistant principal and I meet monthly to discuss items of concern before each school improvement team meeting. Below is the meeting minutes from the School Improvement team meeting where I discussed the digital data walls. After the data wall idea was approved, I created the data walls for the school to use when discussing students academic growth during PLC's. Below are the meeting minutes from the School Improvement Team meeting and the minutes from the leadership team meeting.

Faculty Meeting Agendas
As a leadership team we felt that it is important to allow teachers to demonstrate their leadership in school. Below is a faculty PLC agenda distributing leadership to other faculty members. As part of the leadership team, we met and made the agenda for all faculty meetings. We decided to allow other teachers to take the lead on discussing important topics to the whole staff. For example, a group of teachers led updates on the PBIS team by sharing instructional practices that were working throughout the school. Sharing the responsibility of leadership empowers teachers to step outside their classrooms and take on leadership roles for the entire school. We allowed time for this new leadership lens during every faculty meeting. The artifacts below are examples of the faculty PLC agendas that shows distributed leadership.

Colors Presentation Staff Posters
As a piece of the colors presentation we asked teachers to create charts that described what each colored groups needs, values, strengths, and ways of communication are. Each group then needed to share out those to the whole group. This created leadership within the groups to educate the staff about the specifics of each group. The artifacts below are pictures that show the teachers creating the posters and educating about the needs of their specific group.
